OUR STORY

Miss Maëva McLaughlin was born and grew up in Lyon, France. She studied ballet in a pre-professional program at the Conservatoire de Lyon from age 8 to 18, and  studied jazz with her mom who is also  a dance teacher.

After high school, and taking an exchange year in Portland, Oregon, Miss Maëva attended the Wichita State University dance program. She graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance in May of 2013.

While in college, she met her husband Travis, and they lived in the Wichita area until September 2017. During that time, Miss Maëva owned Andover Academy of Dance, a competitive studio in Andover, Kansas.

In September of 2017, Maëva and Travis moved to Spearville in the countryside, in order to be closer to Dodge City where Travis is orignally from, and because they were attracted by the small town lifestyle that Spearville had to offer. Maëva and Travis have one daughter, Eleanore.

Miss Maëva decided to open  Heartland Dance Center in Spearville, in order to bring something new to the community, and meet the people there! The studio has grown a lot in the past 4 years and went from a recreational studio to a competitive one as well. Our Competition team has won multiple awards and does a great job representing Southwest Kansas around the state.
